Stange Excel template problem

I had installed Open Office then installed Office 2000 (and have subsequently uninstalled Open Office). This apparently
did something to the default file opening funtion of Excel because if I double-click a .xlt file in Windows Explorer,
Excel opens it as if I wanted to edit the template and not as a new workbook based on that template (as it does on other
machines that I have installed Office on). Anyone have any idea how I can get it to open as a woorkbook based on a
template rather than just opening the template for editing?

Try re-registering Excel by using this:

Start | Run | <path to excel>\excel.exe /regserver

This should help it re-associate itself appropriately.

Well, it didn't work. I guess I'm going to have to uninstall and re-install Office.
