starting slide show

How does one preview the slide show by starting at a
slide that is not number 1?

Click the little icon in powerpoint that is bottom left
It looks like a TV on a thin stand. The tool tip reads "slide show" when you hold the mouse over it.

Powerpoint will start from the current slide when you click that icon.
