Status Bar Auto Sum

In Excel 97 if select mutiple cells the sum of the cells
selected would be displated at the bottom right in the
status bar. Is this availible in Excel 2002 if yes how
do you turn it on.

it is available. Right click on the status bar and choose the desired
function

The AutoCalculate feature should appear automatically if two or more
cells with numbers are selected.

If it doesn't appear, AutoCalculate may be set to None:
Right-click in the AutoCalculate area of the Status Bar
Choose a function from the list

Or, the cells may contain numbers that are being treated as text. To
convert them to real numbers, you can use one of the techniques here:
