Is it possible to stop or manage auto-replies where the sender has asked for
a delivery and/or read receipt?

The environment is Outlook2K/XP with Exchange V5.5

Try this-
Tools|Options|Preferences|Email Options|Tracking Option - Look for the box

that tells Outlook to ask you if you want to send a response or to never
send a response as you want.
