Stopping Edit Picture Command?

Word XP

We have a Word document which contains a number of Excel charts within it.
These are inserted by selecting the chart in Excel, copying it, and then
pasting it into the Word document. When the chart is embedded it appears to
be embedded as a picture, and you can resize the chart etc. Unfortunately
the Excel charts have a large amount of whitespace around them. By selecting
the chart (picture), right clicking and then selecting edit picture, you get
the ability to crop unused portions of whitespace from the chart. However,
it does not appear possible to commit these changes and return to the
standard sizing options etc after editing. It is proving really annoying,
because individual components of the chart get dragged about or resized,
rather than the chart as a whole.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

James

Hi James,

When you do what I think you're doing, you're breaking the chart picture down
into its component shapes. If you

1. Display the Drawing toolbar
2. click the white arrow (to select drawing shapes)
3. Drag a rectangle around the entire chart (all the bits and pieces should be
selected)
4. From the button on the Drawing toolbar choose the "Group" command

does that help?
