Styles copied via Organizer behave strangely

K

Kylie

When copying heading styles through via the Word 2002
organiser they loose their indent and tab settings. If
you go to the format menu, select bullets and numbering
they are attached to the correct gallery with has the
correct indent and tab settings.

Nevertheless, if you select OK from the gallery the
styles revert to the correct settings.

I have tested this on a corporate network PC and a stand
alone PC with Office XP installed with default settings
and it happens in both cases.

This potentially causes us big hassles. Why is this
happening - can anyone help?

Hi Kylie

Word has a fundamental problem in copying styles from one document to another when the styles are numbered, or attached to a
numbering scheme.

There's more information at:
How to safely update a document's styles from its template without using the Organizer (and how to make the Tools + Templates and
Add-ins

dialog safe)

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/MacrosVBA/UpdateStyles.htm

Hope this helps.
