Styles Drop Down Menu

I have modified my Normal.dot and set up all the styles that I want. When I
create a new document and I make any modification to a style in the new
document, the "name" in the drop down menu changes to the style name PLUS the
particular formatting (i.e., "Body Text" becomes "Body Text + Bold" -OR-
"Normal" becomes "Normal + Centered"). I DO NOT want to see this formatting
listed in the drop down name -- I just want to see the style name. What do I
need to do to make this stop happening?

Somewhere in your Options (depending on version of Word), uncheck the
one for "Keep Track of Formatting." (This has other effects as well,
and it's conceivable that you want some of the other things that it
does, but I don't remember what they are.)

The main feature (for me) that is affected when "Keep Track of Formatting" is
deactivated is the "Select All # instance(s)" option that appears in the
Styles and Formatting pane for each style is turned off also.
I generally work with this mode off but when I get a document to rescue/fix
this feature steps up to the plate and helps considerably.
All the best

I don't have a problem with the other option being gone because everything is
set the way I want it, and, in the event I should want to modify it, I know
where to find all of the different formatting issues.

Thank you for your feedback.

Another one came up in another thread -- you can't have the blue wavy
line if it's off. (But does the blue wavy line actually do any good?)
