Submitting Modifications to Previously Submitted Forms

Good morning!

I have created an infopath form that submits data to a Microsoft
Access database. I am having trouble with the following scenarios:

1.) Someone submits the InfoPath form data to a database. They open
the same form later to modify the majority of the data and then try to
resubmit the information as a new entry into the database. The result
is that the original entry in the database is overridden by the new
submission. I would like to configure the form and database to allow
for modifications to be added as new entries, not to modify the
existing entry. My current work-around is to have the users save the
form prior to submission and to not save the form after submission -
but that has been unsuccessful.

2.) Someone submits the InfoPath form data to a database. They save
the form to their local hard drive for later use. When they open the
form and modify some of the information and try to re-send the
information, InfoPath generates the following error - "InfoPath cannot
submit the form. The form does not contain any new data to submit to
the data source".

Currently, I'm using an empty text box in the form called "form_ID"
that I use as the primary key for the database connection. I have a
feeling this may be the problem as the "form_ID" field gets assigned a
number at the time of submission that is not changed when re-
submitted...but I'm not sure how to resolve this issue.

Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated (especially
the first scenario).

Thank you!

Rick
