Subscriptions?

Hi,

I would like to buy Publisher to create a subscription based website in
which the subscriber uses a password to enter specific subscriber pages.

Is this possible with Frontpage?

Thanks,

Rick

Do you mean, is it possible to buy Publisher to create a subscription based
website in which the subscriber uses a password to enter specific subscriber
pages, with FrontPage?

I suppose it is, but personally, I would buy FrontPage, and do it with that.

Why do you want to buy Publisher, if you have FP?

If your host allow you to have subwebs/subsites and the ability to set unique permissions, then yes
you can use FP to set permission on a subweb, where all content within the subweb is restricted to
subscribers, however you would have provide the login info to each subscriber.

A better approach where you can control access to individual pages and allow users to sign up and
manage they subscriber profiles, etc. is to use a server-side script, such as ASP, ASP.Net, PHP etc.
depending on what is supported by your web host and your knowledge or willingness to learn to code
in the supported language, as in most case this would need to be a custom solution, especially if
you will be charging for subscriptions, etc.

Here is a example of a subscription based site:

I'm sorry, I misstyped..

I meant to say "FrontPage" in lieu of "Publisher"

I'd like to use FrontPage to create a subscription-based website if possible.

Thanks,

Rick

You can create any type of web site using FrontPage. That said, you can
create any type of building with a set of carpentry tools. Of course, you
have to learn carpentry as well.

FrontPage can be used to make any kind of web site, but
you'll have to learn a scripting language for the
subscription part. As far as I know, FrontPage doesn't
include a component for making fancy subscription-based sites.
