suddenly can't delete mail in Outlook Express

After using Outlook Express without problems for 2 years,
yesterday I discovered I was unable to delete one of the
many emails I received during the day. (I click delete, but
nothing happens).

I tried to drag it to the "deleted items" folder, but I get
an error message that reads: The selected message could
not be moved. An error has occurred.

This morning, the same problem happened with another random
email, and by this afternoon, none of my emails (even old
emails) can be deleted.

Anyone know how to solve this problem?
