Sum up all WBS Codes

Thum

Hi,

how can I sum up all tasks (costs and/or time) which have the same WBS code.
I will not sum up tasks without a WBS code. At least I want to get a report
with sums of all WBS codes.

How can I manage this?

Hello Thum,

The Project Summary task will show the summary information for cost, work,
and duration for all tasks. If you only want to summarize tasks with a WBS
code, try creating a custom group (Project > Group By > More Groups, New).
If you add the cost and work field to the view and then apply the custom
group (by WBS) you will see the sum of the information on the grouping lines.

I hope this helps.

Hi Julie,
I have done so, but I get the sum of group of tasks. What I need is the sum
of a group of WBS.

Some tasks have the same WBS-code, others not.

So how can I get the sum of each WBS-code without multiple occurences of the
same WBS-code.

Hi,

If a WBS-Code is unique to each Task, so each task has its own WBS-Code.
This means I cannot get this what I want.

Is it possible to assign a new attribute to each task. The content of these
attributes are appropriate to e.g. a WBS-Code. Then I sum up all attributes
with the same content.

I apologize Thum, that's what I get for not testing. I incorrectly assumed
you could set a group interval to group only the top level wbs code together.
I apologize. You can as you suggest use grouping with a custom field. I
would use a Flag field which is either yes or no. Set the tasks you do not
want summed to yes (I'm assuming there are fewer that you don't want summed)
then create the group using the Flag fiel

I hope this helps.

Great!

Thanks a lot.

I have used a text instead of an attribute and it worked well. I can sum up
all same texts, which are equivalent to WBS-codes.

Super. Glad you were able to get what you needed. You're most
welcome for the assistance and thanks for the feedback.
