Summing Like items

Greetings I have spread sheet with:

A 20
B 20
A 30
C 40
F 35
B 15


I would like, on another worksheet, to have the sum of all A's, B's,
C's ect. My issue is that I do not know what A, B, or C might be.
There will also be several columns of items that I do not care about.

If the letters are in their own column, you can use the SUMIF
function.
Letters in Col A
numbers to sum in Col B
Criteria in col C
this in col D, and copy down =SUMIF(A:A,C1,B:B)
