SWF in PPT not working

I've been able to insert my swf in my slide, but am not getting the
functionality I want. It plays once after I place it in, but after I save and
close and then open it back up it will not play in slide show mode. I went
online to get information about this and noticed that I can add functionality
by adding buttons. I added a "play" button, so when the user gets to that
slide and if it does not run, they can hit the "play" button.

Why doesn't this thing just play when the user gets to the slide? I've
looked all over the place in PPT and Visual Basics to see how to enable
macros and have no clue where that is. I went to tools --> options -->
security. Nothing there.

Is there something I'm missing here? Also, when I view the Shockwave Object
properties (in Visual Basics), sometimes the "playing" setting reverts back
to false. Have tried all sorts of things to get this to work but am starting
to spin my wheels.

Could someone please help? Thanks.

Right click on the flash object and > properties.

Click the first property (custom) and then the" ... "to the right of the
box. You should get a simple menu - make sure play is ticked. Enable macros
is not the problem but it is in tools>macro>security Low = enabled, med =
prompt, high = not enabled
