Symantec Fax Starter Edition

O

Ole Weigelt

Hello Everybody,

I am trying to find out how to disable Symantec Fax Starter Edition.

Every time, Outlook is started, the setup wizard pops up from nowhere.

In earlier versions there was an entry in the Autostart Group which could be
deleted. Now, I don't know where this program comes from and it does not do
anything helpful especially on a TS.

Does anbody know how to disable or remove this program?

Thanks for reading

What has this to do with Office?! Just because the application adds a
function to Outlook, doesn't make this the correct place to be posting.
Suggest you contact either Symantec or your system vendor/distributor, since
this version is widely (if not exclusively) supplied with new systems.

What has this to do with Office?!

Very simple: It showed up the first time after the installation of Office
with no Symantec products on the machine. Thus I assumed, it came with the
Office installation.

Then you assumed incorrectly. MS has no deal with Symantec to bundle any
version of any of their applications with Office or any other product.

Also incorrect - Symantec Fax Starter Edition is on MS disks.

What discs? I've never had any Symantec application on any MS disc I have
ever purchased, and I've been purchasing from, and dealing with, MS for over
20 years. If it was on a 'Microsoft' disc that came bundled with a computer,
then it would have been added by the system builder and would not have
originated from MS.

Well, it's definitely on my two-volume Office 2000 professional CDs, and
they came straight from Microsoft, not through an OEM. Perhaps you shouldn't
be quite so quick to rebut other posters' comments.

It shipped with Office 2000 Pro. Check your facts.

Then go back and look at all the posts you wrote today. What a rag you
are.

It is a bundled application that Outlook uses in Internet Mail Only mode in
Outlook 98 and 2000.

Hi Ole -

I do not recall much about Outlook 2000 but if you switch modes to Corporate
or Workgroup, the Symantec Starter edition will be disabled. It was an
alternate installation that someone inadvertently included in the
installation package - it is optional.

Symantec Fax Starter Edition is installed by Office, so the poster asked in
the appropriate forum.
