Symbol shortcut keys disappear

Hi,

I use Greek letters a lot and so gave several of them shortcut keys in
the insert>symbol tool. This works fine until I restart Word at which
point they disappear. I'm not sure if it's every time I restart Word
or just once in a while but the shortcut keys are definitely
inactivated at some point. Does anyone know a reason why this could
be?

Hi Paul,

Try this:

1. Go to Insert > "Symbol..."
2. Select a symbol for the shortcut
3. Click "Shortcut Key..." button
4. Enter your combo keys in the "Press new shortcut key:" field
5. In the "Save changes in:" pull down menu, make sure it says "Normal.dot"
6. Click "Assign" button
7. Click "Close" button

Your configuration is now saved permanently in the "Normal.dot". Each
time MS Word starts up, it reads this file and load your shortcuts.

Nope - it wasn't that. I still have the problem and have also noticed
that any changes I make to my toolbars also reset each time I close
Word. Any more suggestions?
