Synching Mailboxes.

Is there anyway to synch 2 mailboxes for the same email
account on separate machines?

IE: I have a desktop machine that I will occasionally
check emails on and a laptop that I check them on most of
the time. These machines connect frequently on a network
consisting of only these 2 machines. Is there any way I
can make the mailboxes become mirrors of each other when
both machines are connected?
