Synchronisation stopped - has my company blocked office groove

E

Exup

Hi
my collegue and I have been using office groove 2007 now for over six months
sharing workspaces and synchronising files with our work and home computers.
Just recently it appears to have stopped synchronising our files and we are
not able to see each other online. This is when we are at work.
I am at a loss to know where to start checking or testing for connectivity.
I have had a look at the communications manager and all is idle with zero up
and down.

Also under preferences and account I can see my other computer is there are
ready. What can I do to troubleshoot this issue.

Hi Exup,

you need to understand the protocols that groove uses to communicate and see
if your company has implemented any new security measures that might prevent
groove getting through.

groove mainly tries to talk over tcp port 2492, and if that is blocked on a
firewall, it will fall back to use port 80 (same as the web browser).

your company may be filtering web traffic. I've also seen ISA server stop
groove traffic if it's not configured to let it through.

talk to your security people. If you can get them to open up port 2492 in
both directions, groove will be very happy ...
