Synchronising Outlook without Exchange Server

I run a small 2 desktop and 1 laptop computer network,
running Outlook 2002 and XP on each PC. Each PC is
configured with Internet Only e-mail Service Options and
I want to be able to synchronise 1 users e-mail with
their laptop, for use when they are out of the office and
when they return.
Is it possible to do this without installing Windows
Server 2000 (or 2003) and Exchange Server?
