I keep getting this message when trying to access most
but not all of my pages, then the whole program freezes.
I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del. Have tried Detect and Repair,
have reinstalled. My Tools menu doesn't even HAVE a
Security option to check. Help!! Frontpage 2000

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Local Settings\Temp
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file hidden file CMDUI.PRF
Usually in C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State
4) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
5) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
6) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
7) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

Exact same problem here (Win 98, FP2000), can't upload my pages, can't find the fp30wec.dll file that the MS site says is the culprit. Let's stay in touch to get this one nailed. I'm not ready to spend the $35 for tec support proper, would rather sleuth this one out.

You can download a copy from here:
http://www.windll.com/library-f_100.php

scroll down the page.

Make sure you place it in the C:\Windows\System folder.

Make sure you register it by following these instructions:
However to open a command window in 98 you click Start > Programs and then click the MS-DOS prompt
shortcut.

To register the essential copy of Fp30wec.dll:
Change to the Windows\System folder. To do this, type cd C:\Windows\System at the command prompt,
and then press ENTER.
At the C:\Windows\System prompt, type Regsvr32 Fp30wec.dll, and then press ENTER.
After you receive the "registration succeeded" message, restart your computer.

If you don't have a copy of fp30wec.dll you need to reinstall FP 98 from your licensed CD (not from any place else)
- suspect you have one, but have Windows Explorer set to hide known file types
(In Windows Explorer Tools Folder Options View and turn off the options to hide files)

I also am having this same error in MS FP 2003. It occurs on only one site,
and on one page (index.asp - the home page).

I have followed all of Stefan's instructions to erase all the temporary
files and repair IE. I also deleted the temporary file cache in MS IE and
rebooted my computer, and ran a detect & repair on MS FP 2003.

All this didn't help. Same error when I try to open index.asp. This locks
up MS FP, requiring me to manually force the application to close through
the windows task manager (XP Pro).

Does anyone have a clue as to what to do to correct this?

Thanks.

Hard to say, but could be corrupt or malformed ASP code
- rename the file to .htm, open it and remove any ASP code
- rename it back to .asp and re open it to see if the problem persists
