Table borders

I'm using Word XP (work) and Word 2003 (home) and I have problems with table
borders.

I frequently want to adjust the standard borders - say, make the outer
border thicker than the inner grid. But whenever I change the weight of the
border the whole table changes.

How do I change the weight of parts of a table border?

Cheers.

You might find it easier to use the Tables and Borders toolbar to do this
function. Fix up your normal cell borders of the thickness you want, click
the dropdown on the toolbar and select the thickness you want for the
outside. Your cursor changes to a pencil. Simply click and drag a straight
line to set the outside border (for each side obviously). Click the
"Pencil" (Draw table icon) to turn it off. Any time (which is most of the
time) I am working with tables, I leave this toolbar open.

Hope this helps!
