Task in Timesheet view

I am unable to enter task information (the no of hours) on
a per day basis currently it is appearing dimmed in the
Web Access Timesheet view. The only information I can
enter is the Remaining work. But for non-project time it
allows me to enter values on a daily basis. Any solution
OR setting to be done??

Is this a new problem? (IE, did it just start happening?)

When we had this happen, it was on our new install and we had the wrong
options
set in Project server.

PWA -> Admin -> Customize Microsoft Project Web Access

Select the necessary options
(Most likley the top section: Hours of work per day/week
& Lower down, Resources should report their hours worked every day)

Then pull the projects up in MS Project and re-publish.
