TaskPad Hijaks Calendar Overview

Is there any way to prevent the calendar overview from jumping over to
the right side of the screen when the TaskPad is enabled?

Would be nice if MS introduced floating/dockable screen elements in the
next version of Outlook, huh?

the right side of the screen when the TaskPad is enabled?

Of course. Enable the Taskpad, click the bottom of the Date Navigator, and
drag it upward to cover the Date Navigator. It will then jump back over to
the top of the Navigation Pane on the left.
