Tasks not assigning when importing into enterprise

Ok, so I am just setting up project server 2007 for the first time, so
forgive me if this is a easy question and just something I have onverlooked.
But, when importing a new project into project server 2007 I go through the
five steps, and then publish, but for some reason I am getting assigned all
the tasks and not the resourses that are supposed to be assigned to them.
While importing it does create the user resourses, and also does link them
like they are supposed to be with their windows account, but still assigns me
all the tasks that were assigned to them on the project. Ok, so now the weird
part that I am seeing, when I go to my tasks, and then select a task, and go
to assignment details, and select contacts, it does so the right person that
is assigned a task, it just does not show up when they open PWA.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks!!!

If you are the Project Server administrator, then you missed a HGE step in
setting up your enterprise resources. You must specify the Default
Assignment Owner value for every resource in your Enterprise Resource Pool.
For each resource, you must set the Default Assignment Owner field value to
the name of the selected resource. For example, the Default Assignment
Owner value for Mickey Cobb is Mickey Cobb. The system uses the value in
this field to determine whose PWA Timesheet gets the tasks when a PM
publishes a project. You will need to do this editing in the Resource
Center page as the system will not allow you to specify this value by
opening the Enterprise Resource Pool in Project Professional 2007. Also, to
force the current project to work correctly, you can insert the Assignment
Owner field in the Task Usage view and specify a value for each resource.

By the way, don't feel too bad about missing the step. It is totally
non-intuitive and non-obvious. I missed the step the first time I began
testing Project Server 2007, but dug deep enough to learn the source of the
problem. Hope this helps.

Dale,

That was indeed the issue I was running into, I would have never thought
that the owner would have to be the same name as the resource. Thanks for all
your help!!

You are more than welcome, my friend. Your pain arises because you are on
the "bleeding edge" the the Project Server 2007 release. :)

Yeah, unfortunetly my company is always on the bleeding edge being a
Microsoft partner, so we are always deploying the latest and greatest as soon
as it comes out! :)

We are on the "bleeding edge" right now as we write our first two books on
Project Server 2007. Imagine trying to write a book about this software
with virtually no documentation available. We learn the software the "tried
and true" method by "playing with it." :) And then we write everything we
can learn about it.

Well my friend, I'm doing the same thing trial and error but not nearly to
the extent you are. Again, thanks for all your help, PWA is working great
now. And good luck with the books, and let me know when you finish one of
them, I will pick one up for sure!!! (e-mail address removed)
