TeamDirection Project 2007 and Groove 2007

I'm pleased to announce the beta for the TeamDirection Standard and Plus
editions for Groove 2007-- and SharePoint 2003 and 2007.

http://www.teamdirection.com contains more details, demos and downloads.

The brief summary is TDP Standard works similarly to Groove 3.x in that
everyone requires a copy.

TDP Plus richly integrates with Groove Forms, provided by TeamDirection as
part of the download. Project Managers may use TeamDirection to publish task
data to Groove forms. Team members may use Groove to update their tasks.
TeamDirection will then gather everyone's updates and keep everyone in sync.
Rich synchronization with MS Project is also available, as is integration
with SharePoint Task Lists.

Feel free to try the beta, ping me with any questions and share some tasks
today!

Hi John,

I downloaded the TDProject Plus edition and installed it on my computer.
However, it seems that it doesn't work like TDProject Tool 3.1 in Groove. I
cannot find the TDProject tool in Groove 2007 after installing the Plus
Edition.

I can click Start menu > All Programs > TeamDirection > TDProject to run it.
However, how to make it working with Groove 2007?

Well, unfortunately its not possible to put 3rd party tools into the groove
environment anymore. You can do Groove Forms, which is what we've done by
creating an Announcements, Links and Task List. But you cannot put in a
non-groove form solution. Talk to the powers that be, I just work here.

However, it does give us the ability to interactively synchronize data with
Groove Forms. In this scenario, which we expect to be very common, one person
may purchase TeamDirection Project Plus, most likely a project manager, and
share either entire projects or summary tasks with the Groove Task List. Then
Groove users, *without needing TeamDirection on their desktops* can update
their task lists. The project manager can then gather the data at any time
and even synchronize back with the original MS Project file at their
discretion. We think this will leverage the coming ubiquity of Groove as
Office 2007 rolls out.

The extra benefit with this approach is it works for SharePoint 2003 and
2007 too. Only there users can use just a web browser to update their
SharePoint Task Lists.

So we lose the ability to embed ourselves within Groove. However we gain the
ability to use both Groove and SharePoint. All in all, we're quite pleased,
and hope you will be too.

John,

Thanks for the detail instruction of the Groove 2007 and the TD Project
2007. I will follow the Demo on the TD website to test it.

Thanks.
