template application

I have the strangest problem...maybe it's something that I'm doing wrong, but
I'm trying to make a standardized template and then apply it to presentations
that are already made. I create the slide just like I want it and then I save
it as a template. But for some reason when I try to apply the new design, it
just shows up as a white slide. In the thumbnail view it shows up as it was
designed, but I can't seem to apply it. Any ideas? I've got Powerpoint 2002.
Thanks.

That's the strange part. For some reason, I can apply any of the preset
slides without any problem, but it is when I try to apply one of the slides
that I made that I get errors. Thanks.
