I can create and save a template but I can't appy it. when I click on it
under slide design available for use, notihg happens, no message. Can someone
help me?

Did you create the template using master slide view?
Did you save as a .pot file?

Sorry for the obvious questions but I cant see your screen and I have no
idea how much you know!

You have to do your designing on the slide master.
