Text fields, check boxes, protection

I have a forms document (my first) with both text fields and check
boxes. If I 'protect' the form, the check boxes work, but the text
fields don't, and vice-versa. How do I get them both to work?
Thanks, Joann

Well, I suspect that you are using the wrong kind of item for one or the
other, because they should both work together fine.

Take a look at this article, and see if you are creating your forms the same
way

If that doesn't help, post back here with a step-by-step description of
exactly what process you follow to insert a checkbox and a textbox.

Thank you. My problem was that I didn't begin with a template document.
The article helped a lot, but I wish it had continued with info about
saving the template, opening, and saving the file as a user would do.
I assume that you do a SaveAS <newname> for the completed form? Or is
there a better way? Joann

Not starting with a template would not be the cause of the problem that you
mentioned. However, assuming that you have overcome the original problem,
if the document is saved as a template, then it needs to be installed in the
users' template folder so that it is available when they select File>New and
then create a document from the template. When that is done, the document
that is created will have the initial name of Document# where # is a number.
So then, when the user saves the document, there is no chance of them
overwriting the template.
