text formatting in cells

I have data stored in a spread sheet. Some of this data
is formatted as fractions, powers, radicals, and other
forms of equations. My output references this data and
displays it. The problem is that the text that is
formatted as superscripts in my data reverts to standard
text in the output cell. In order to keep excel from
calculating the equations that I have entered as data, I
have formatted the cells as text. How can I keep the
text formatting from reverting back to standard?

Hi
with formulas referencing this formated data: No chance. Formulas just
can return the values but not the formating information
