The advantage of Newsgroups verses web forums

MS utilizes newsgroups over web forums, which is not how Apple and other
companies operate. But I also see that MS has a web based gateway to Usenet,
and one can also use Google as well.

So whats your POV on all this? Some web forums allow for inserting a
picture, styles, and other such features missing from Usenet. Whats the
advantage to usenet?

For a technical resource, 'pictures styles and other such features'
often detract from the message.

Furthermore, a news server allows you to use any one of dozens of
software interfaces, as opposed to using the one that is available on a
web forum. That means I can tailor things to how I want them to appear,
and use advanced features such as filters and scoring.

But YMMV.

I agree. Usenet is much more powerful. Glad MS allows access via the web and
via a client.
