"The form has been closed" message appears when trying to upload a file using a Infopath form

Hi,

Guys, I am facing a weird problem. I have a Infopath 2007 browser-enabled
form that is assigned to a specific form library. My form was working
normally but then suddenly it stopped working. I have a field in this form
which is of type "Attachment". Then when you click on this field on the form
a "pop up" screen appears so you can select the file to download (this is
done automatically by Sharepoint 2007) and after you select the file you
click "Upload".

When I do that now, the message I receive is "The form has been closed". On
the server a pop-up message (error message) is displayed. Sometimes it is
being written to the event log. The message is:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Office SharePoint Server Error Reporting

I don't know what to do. I've tried to re-publish the form many times
without success.

Does anybody knows what is going on or have faced this problem before?

Hi Robson,

Sometimes using the "re-link documents" option in the library settings
works. Have you tried this?

Is this just happening with historical forms or is it also happening with
new forms that are being created?

Robbie.

I have seen this error on various other occasions:

1) When XsnLocation or XmlLocation is not specified correctly (in
XmlFormView).

2) In case of SecurityException thrown by the form.

3) After a browser window have this issue, it continues to have this
issue. (need to re-open in new browser and clear cache to browser
cache conflict)

I'll also recommend you to look into sharepoint logs. The event view
log is minimal and does not provide you lot of information.

1) Enable "verbose" logging on sharepoint server: central admin ->
operations -> diagnostic logging -> select category to "all " and
trace log to "verbose".

2) Goto C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\12\LOGS and open the last updated log file.

3) check for error related forms server.

Finally, if the infopath form has code-behind file, then debug the
infopath form using visual studio 2005.

My client does not let me to cross-post.

Hi Robbie,

Thanks for the quick response. It is happening with the new forms. Actually,
I have no forms at all in this document library. I even tried deleting the
form library and creating it again when publishing the form thru Infopath.

Any other thoughts?

Rgs,

Robson

There are a few things to try now.

Publish the form as a content type, assign it to a new form library and try
to replcate the issue.

If it was a content type, publish it directly to SharePoint creating a new
form library in the process, and try to replicate the issue.

Publish the form as an administrator approved template and assign it to the
form library and try to replicate the problem.

If none of these work, create a new form template and go through each step
again.

If you have the time, please post the results.

Good luck,

Robbie.

If you've recently upgraded the form through Central Administration,
you might try re-activating the form to the site collection where your
form library resides.
