not the fact that you _visited_ the site will solve your problem :)

Have you tried the _workaround_?

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run,
type the following command line in the Run dialog box, and then click OK:
drive:\setup.exe /L*V C:\install.txt PIDKEY=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx /qb
In this example, drive is the letter of the CD drive that contains the
Office installation disc, and xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is your Office CD key.
2. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the
installation.
Note Make sure that you are using the correct installation CD and CD key.

You need to find the Product Key that came with the
original Windows 2000 CD. That Product Key will
only work with the original Windows 2000 CD and
not any other Microsoft Office version.

If you indeed "threw out the CD", see the following:

The OP is in a heap of trouble. Microsoft stopped supporting Office 2000
quite some time ago. And anyone who "threw out the CD since it doesnt work"
deserves to pay for their actions.
