Thumbnail and hyperlinks

M

Is there a way to make a thumbnail graphic picture with a hyperlink to
another site? I've tried Fp2003 and Xara but none of them show the thumbnail
after creating it.
I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have about
this.....Thanks

Place the thumbnail on your page using insert image. Right click the image and select hyperlink
properties and enter the hyperlink.

Thanks Steve,
How about if the picture you are using already has a link attached to it?
When I try using the picture w/ link I get no picture.

S

Steve Easton

Ok, you lost me !!
Are you saying that the thumbnail is already linked to something else??

Yes, as in an affiliate link. The picture or graphic has a link to a specific
website and a specific page. The picture would be embedded within the link
such as follows:
<IMG
SRC="http://service.bfast.com/bfast/serve?bfmid=37926289&siteid=41052129&bfpage=orig_hot_sauce" BORDER="0" WIDTH="1" HEIGHT="1" NOSAVE >
<A
HREF="http://service.bfast.com/bfast/click?bfmid=37926289&siteid=41052129&bfpage=orig_hot_sauce"
TARGET="_top"><IMG
SRC="http://static.phobo.com/CreativeAssets/images/1103/120JumpupOriginal.gif" BORDER="0" WIDTH="120" HEIGHT="90" ALT="Original Hot Sauce"></A>
but even when you place the picture link on a page and try to make a
thumbnail out of it, it will not allow you to do this. Is there a way in
which to do what I would like to do?

Save the image.
Use an image editing program to create the thumbnail.
Place the thumbnail image inside your web.
Insert it into the page.
Right click and select hyperlink properties and enter the hyperlink.

Basically you can't "thumbnail" an image that you are using in your page by way of "hot linking" to
the image.

If I understand what you're trying to do here, , do you have permission to link to the image in the
other web site?? If not you might get a nasty letter from the web master

If you mean the picture from http://static.phobo.com/CreativeAssets/images/1103/120JumpupOriginal.gif

Go save it from their site and create a "thumbnail" smaller image to use for your link
- or if it scales well just change the image from WIDTH="120" HEIGHT="90" to say WIDTH="60" HEIGHT="45"

Thanks Steve,
That works well, just takes a little more time to create. Thanks for your
advice.

Thanks for your input Stefan, The links I'm creating are authorized links
from several different sites in which all links contain an affilliate code
that I get credit for.

So?
Doesn't mean you can't use your own image unless they say if you do you lose the right to link to them

No, you can use your own links, but must include the linking code with ID to
get credit for any purchases that are made. Usually their links containe all
of the code needed along with either a .jpg or .gif .

Usually the only thing you need is the hyperlink URL code (a href tag)
The image which you apply the link to can be anything
