Time scaled Baseline does not roll up

I have a strange circumstance with one of my projects.

In a Task Usage view, the Baseline Work does not roll up to the summary task
for time scaled data, it displays the information for the task immediately
below it.

The strange part is that in the table area of the same view, Baseline Work
rolls up to the project summary task. Also, other summary tasks in the time
scaled side roll up just fine, just not the project summary task.

I have cleared and re-baselined several times and have watched in the view
as the project summary task in the table area reflects the clearing and
re-baselining, albeit with incorrect numbers in the time scaled side.

And yes, I am using a level 0 project summary task as selected from the
Tools, Options, View menu. I have also performed a manual "Calculate Now"
although I don't believe it would have any effect.

No other projects behave this way, including an almost identical twin. They
all show Baseline Work rolling up to the project summary task.

Interestingly, it is not affecting Earned Value calculations for this
project, I would have thought it would affect BCWS, but it shows up correctly
in both the table and time scaled areas.

Any thoughts?

Are you using the correct terminology
to explain your problem?

Baseline data does not do any calculations.
There is nothing that "rolls up".

Baseline data is just a static, non-changing
snapshot of your project plan. When you "baseline"
a project, this is what happens:

"Work" gets copied to "Baseline Work"
"Duration" gets copied to "Baseline Duration"
"Start" gets copied to "Baseline Start"
"Finish" gets copied to "Baseline Finish"
etc. etc.

Anything contained in "Baseline Work" is just
a snapshot of "Work" when you do a baseline.

Can you please restate your problem.

Thanks.

Ok, to phrase in a different way.

When I baseline, I am finding that Work is not being copied properly into
Baseline Work for the project summary task (Task 0) in the time scaled area.
It is being copied correctly in the table area. What is appearing for
Baseline Work in the project summary task in the time scaled area is a
replication of the time scaled data for the first task (Task 1) in the
project. This is true for any of the 11 baselines, they all act the same, a
replication of Task 1, but again, just in the time scaled area. All other
tasks in the project are being copied correctly, just not the project summary
task.

I experimented by changing Task 1 to contain Work or not contain Work and in
all cases, after I baseline, the project summary task Baseline time scaled
data reflects the Baseline values from Task 1.

My use of the term rollup was meant to describe that the time scaled data
does not reflect a summarization of all of the tasks below it, whether it is
directly copied or calculated.

Okay, I'm confused.
The Summary Baseline Work totals correctly, right?
Timescale area, meaning "Gantt Chart"?

The Project Summary Task 0 will show the duration
from 'project begining' to 'project end'.

If Task 1 spans the whole project, then
yes, it would be the same.

If Task 1,2,3 is like:
xxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx

If Task 0,1,2,3 will be:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx

However, if 1,2,3 is like:
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx

Then 0,1,2,3 would be the same:

xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxx
xxxxx

I am still missing something, aren't I??

What version of Project are you using? Not all of the earlier versions
rolled up all data tot eh project Summary task. In Project 2003 I am seeing
the results I expect and I suspect the results you want greghoro.

I'm using the latest version, Project Pro 2003 SP1 (11.1.2004.1707.15).

This is isolated to just one project, other projects are copying the project
summary task time scaled data appropriately to the Baseline time scaled data.

For Rick, when I refer to time scaled data, I am referring to the right side
of a Usage view. When I am referreing to table data, I am referring to the
left side. The table view is reporting baseline correctely the time scaled
view is not but only incorrectly at the project summary task. All other
summary tasks are copied appropriately.
