Setting Baseline Omitting A Task

Hi, I'm new here but I have been using Project for quite awhile now and
have figured out many problems with it that I hope I can help others
with. Unfortunately, this problem has me stumped.

We are using Project 2007 to track our costs on a large construction
job.

We have had some changes made to our baseline cost. When I try to Set a
new baseline for the selected task, and have it roll up to the summary
tasks, the project is omitting one of the other tasks in the overall
project. This task is not included in the section that I am trying to
re-baseline.

Anyone have any ideas?

Was the other task ever baselined? Insert one of the baseline columns and
look at the values in that column. You may just want to select it and
baseline it too.

It was already baselined and is included in the overall baseline cos
before I try to re-baseline the selected task.

I can not re-baseline that task because there are actual cost
associated with it, and it will take those costs into account as part o
the baseline

It is possible you baselined the task with actuals in place, this forgives
allpast variances. You can try backing out your progress (be mindful of
dates because they might change). Once you get the progress out and the dates
where you need them, you can (re)baseline that one task and then return your
progress. Hint: It sounds easier than it is.
