timeline historical project with dates outside of normal range

I want to build a historical timeline using Project format, however the dates
(AD 1713-1784) fall outside of accepted date ranges. Appreciate any
workaround that anyone can help me with.

Semper Fi,
This question is occasionally asked in this newsgroup. Project is not a
good application for charting history. Project is a scheduling
application, not a graphics package. Although when you look at history
you will find that a certain span of years in the past exactly overlays
a span of years in the present (i.e. months match up), but this does not
hold for all time. If it did you could "translate" history into the
present.

I suggest you use a graphics application.
