Timesheet Approval

I am currently installing MS Project 2003 Pro and server for a new client.
They want to require both the PM and the resource manager to approve
timesheets, Both parties must approve not 1 or the other. All the
documentation and reading that I have done hints that this is possible. I
just can't find anywhere that enforces this requirement. Is this possible?

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
the Timesheet Approval feature already offers the two levels of approval you
seek. The RM will approve timesheets on the Timesheet Approval page in PWA
and the PM will approve and update the tasks from the Updates page in PWA.
Is there something else you client wants beyond this? Let us know.

Sorry about the mis-post. What is a person is both an RM and PM? Will it
direct the RM type tasks of the timesheet to the approve Timesheet and the PM
tasks to update? Is there a way to require a certain order?

No. When you use the Timesheet Approval feature, the system displays task
updates on each RM's Timesheet Approval page based on the resources listed
directly below the RM in the RBS outline code field in the Enterprise
Resource Pool. At the same time, the system also displays task updates on
the Updates page of each PM according to which PM is the manager of the
project. Also, do know that PM's can update task updates from PWA into the
Microsoft Project plan WITHOUT getting timesheet approval from an RM. Given
these descriptions, I'm not certain that Timesheet Approval will work for
your client based on your questions. Hope this helps.
