Timesheets/Tasks/Assignments

Can someone please give me a good explanation on each of the 3? Is timesheet
the collection of submitted assignments? What's the difference between
assignment and task?

I'm using PS2007 but I don't think that matters for the purpose of this
question. Thanks.

Hi,

Assignments from Project Professional are presented as "tasks" in PWA, hence
in the Timesheet.

Hi asadim,

A Task is an activity that must be completed before the project is complete.
It should therefore be described by verbs, preferably thinking of the
"doing" part of the verb, as it tells people what to do to achieve
completion, like painting, machining, programming, brick laying,
plastering...

When you have a Task you need Resources to carry it out. So you Assign
resources to a task to create an Assignment.

Listing the Assignments against a calendar scale to show when the work is
planned or done, is a Timesheet.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
