to Delete and open mail is very slow

After messages have been rcvd, it takes app 30secs to delete or to open
another message. On outlook express it takes a fraction of a sec.
Problem started a few months ago.

Version of Outlook? Email environment - POP3, Exchange? If you use a PST,
what size is it? Are there any error messages and/or numbers? Are you
scanning incoming and outgoing mail with your antiirus software?
