transferring emails and contacts from old computer

I have bought a new computer - on which is installed
Outlook. How can I transfer my emails, contacts,folders
etc from outlook on my old machine to the new one. I
imported to a backup.pst file but the new computer would
not read them, said i did not have authorisation to
access. Licenses for both outlook products are held by
hte university where I work

Not sure if this is the problem,
but if you saved them to a cd, then it is possible it is read only.
Right click on the file, and click properties,
make sure the read only isn't checked. I had that problem once if it is
checked, uncheck it then apply,
make sure you apply to all subfolders ..
