transparency issue

Hi Gang,

Here's an odd one. I am finding occasionally that when I transfer shows
between computers some of the transparent bg's in some graphics imported as
png's are not transparent. Then I need to use the wand in the picture
toolbar to make them work. This is a pain. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance......Alec

What version of PowerPoint was used to create the file and what version(s)
are installed on the computers you've tried?

The last time this happened, I created the show in ppt 2003 and the problem
appeared on a machine with ppt XP.

What can it mean?

How was the original transparency created? Was it by using the
transparency tool in PowerPoint, or did you create the transparent PNG's in
an image editor, giving them alpha channels? It would also be important to
know what PowerPoint Service Packs were installed on the PowerPoint 2002
machine.

The pngs were created in photoshop with transparency levels as part of the
image. This imports into 2003 and XP no problem. Only when I transfer it
between machines is it a problem. I don't think there have been any service
packs installed on the XP machine.

Has this been a problem for anyone else in the past? I have come across it
before on different shows on different machines.

I would always recommend that all service packs be applied. I can't find
any details on the XP SP's, but no telling what they might correct. I don't
specifically recall this particular problem being mentioned before, but my
memory is . . . slow. <G> The other thing that I would do is ensure that
the latest video driver for the system has been installed.

Thanks Sonia,

I shall work on this.
