Trouble connecting to database engine even AFTER MS recommended fi

I recently started getting the following message after starting up Outlook
2003. "There was a problem connecting to the database engine. To try again,
please click Retry. If the problem persists, check Help." I did so, and added
my name to the BCM users list, as suggested by MS. Nonethless, I still get
this error message. I am the sole user/administrator for this computer.
Problem started after installing Office 2003 SP 1. Anyone have this problem
and any idea of how to fix it?
