Trouble opening Word in Microsoft Office 2003

We have had this computer since July 2005 and it came with Microsoft Office
2003 Small Business Edition already installed. We have had no difficulty
with it until a few weeks ago.
Now Word will sometimes open and more often get stuck while opening, whether
we are trying to open a document directly from "My Computer", or just open
Word itself from the start up menu. Occasionally this has happend with Excel
also. (Haven't tried a Power Point file yet.)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and still does the same
thing. Can anyone help?

I am having the same problem with my whole Office 2003 so Word, Excel, and in
Outlook if I selected to use Word as my email editor that gets stuck as well.
I have the whole Macromedia Suite installed on my pc and ever since then
have had this trouble.
I've done a lot of searches and have only seen reponses to disable the
Office Plug-in in the Norton Antivirus under Options, Misc. and uncheck
Enable Office Plug-in.
I haven't tried this yet but will tomorrow...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I tried your suggestion and it worked! I
can open all of my Word, Excel, Power Point applications now with no
difficulty. I even turned off the computer and rebooted to be sure it was
not a fluke, and they still worked!

Now I'm just really curious why they worked for so long and then suddenly
started having the problem, but at least I won't lose sleep over it.
