Trouble with an include

R

R. Tidd

I am using FrontPage 2002 SP3, on a Windows 2000
Professional machine with SP4.
I am doing a database, and an include on two separate
pages. One works fine the other does not.
The file it is asking for on the one that is NOT working
is in the correct directory, however, Front page has
listed it differently on the two pages.
The file it is asking for is:
The include file '_fpclass/fpdblib.inc' was not found.
On the page that works it is written as:
<!--#include file="../_fpclass/fpdblib.inc"-->
On the one that doesn't it is written as:
<!--#include file="_fpclass/fpdblib.inc"-->
You can see the slight difference. When I attempt to
change it as the one that works, Front page comes back and
says:
The contents of a FrontPage component have been modified.
These contents will be overwritten when you save this page.
When I save the page, it goes back to the way it was.
Any suggestions on solving my problem?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks much for your help. The page you sent me to has a
lot of wonderful stuff!
I solved the problem by getting the file working by itself
in the root directory, then copying the file into the
includes directory. For some reason, it then worked just
fine, and added the ../ in front of the statement. Sorry,
I am such a newbie at this I do not understand an awful
lot of it yet. I could not get the Spooky Diet to work,
without starting over on the page. Kept getting the Run
time Error 5, message, and from reading the other
information I found there, it looked like you needed to
start with a bare bones DRW, then run the Spooky Diet, and
then do the formating. Thanks to you, I am going to use
this on future projects, though.
Thanks again for your help and leading me to the great
website!
Rick
