Trouble with File, Open directory

I opened a few documents from various folders. I should be able to
Ctrl O and see the "last" folder I opened. Instead, as I click
through the documents and Ctrl O, it shows the folder of the active
document. I've repeated this process on my 2nd computer, and it shows
the last folder accessed regardless of which document is presently
active. That's what I want. I don't care where I opened the active
document, I want to see the last folder accessed.

Please help. This is annoying.

That's the behaviour unfortunately. I create shortcuts to commonly
used roots on my desktop to trivialise this problem.
