trouble with office 2003

I am trying to fix my office file (thanks, kids). My original plan was to
uninstall, then reinstall (have orig disk and product key) but I keep getting
the following message:

This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.'

I have searched the windows support page, but didn't find anything. Any
ideas?

I did that. Office reinstalled without a problem. Word, Excel work fine.
When I try to run outlook, I get the following message:

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window.
The set of folders could not be opened.

I went and did a full reinstall, to no avial.
