Two Emails

Surely there is a way of having both on the screen:

a New Post email being prepared in a 6in x 6in window (I never know what is
the correct description for this - it is not Dialog Box or is it) and a
received email revived to the same size for copy and paste, but as soon as
one is actively used the other disappears to the Task Bar.

What is the way of having both on the screen?

They both stay one the screen for me.
