Two frustrating problems in Outlook 2003

D

Deubster

In an office of 8 workstations (all with XP Pro and
Office 2003 Pro) with a Windows 2003 Small Business
Server running Exchange, 3 are doing something strange
that is driving them crazy. Each day Outlook (or
Exchange?) takes previously read mail still in the Inbox
and changes the date to the current date and changes the
type to bold, indicating unread.

Two others do not have the option of sharing their
calendar. When you go to the same place that we went to
share calendars on the others, there is no link or button
to click to share the calendar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you've already ruled out problems with a server resending mail
(current date seems to indicate it's getting resent or is an IMAP
connection), on the three with the bolding problem - find and rename the
*.ost. (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook) - outlook will create a new one.

On the share problem, (assuming the accounts are configured to connect to
the mailbox using Exchange services, not IMAP or POP3) find and rename *.XML
(C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) -
outlook will recreate it.

If these solutions don't work, you can rename the files back, especially if
the users with shared calendar problems customized the Navigation pane.
