Can Visio auto-generate operations such as get and set upon the attributes
of a class (in UML class diagram). I hope so, because i've got many classes
and each has lots of attributes and nearly all need get and set methods...

Yes, Visio 2002 for Enterprise Architect (VEA) which ships with Visual
Studio.Net Enterprise Architect has the functionality.
There is an option which you can set to create the "get" and "set" methods
