Unable to import Excel data into MS Access

Using Office XP Professional, when attempting to import
data from an Excel spreadsheet into MS Access, the Import
menu does not provide a "Files Of Type" option for Excel.

I have un-installed and re-installed Office XP but this
has not resolved the problem. Must be some leftover stuff
in the registry that is causing the problem.

Details:
Intel
OS is Windows 2000 Professional Version 5.0.2195 Service
Pack 3, Build 2195
Office XP Professional with FrontPage Version 10.0.2627.0


Any information as how I can resolve this problem is much
appreciated.
