Unable to insert object (eg .doc) into Powerpoint 2003 file

Eric

Get error "server application source file or item could not be found.... "

Customer had same error in Powerpoint 2002. 2002 was removed and 2003 was
just installed.

Norton Ant-virus has never been on the computer and officeav.dll does not
exist.

This happens on brand new ppt file, and using a brand new doc.

He has under 300 fonts installed.

It is not user profile specific. It happens in my profile also. (windows
2000 pro).

Any other ideas?

Sounds as if you've read this FAQ already: The server application, source
file, or item can't be found (when editing MSGraph, Excel Charts, Org
Charts) http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00236.htm

I'm not aware of anything that would prevent a .DOC file from being
inserted, though. Have you tried running Detect and Repair in PPT 2003? Have
you gone to Help/Check for Updates and applied SP-1 for Office 2003?
